BATHS / THE SPRING BATH
We gave this bathroom a permanent spring: yellow wildflower wallpaper, dusty-pink cement tile and a green-veined marble basin.
Some rooms follow the seasons. This one stays in spring. Yellow, lilac and blush wildflowers climb the walls, and the palette is cheerful without tipping into a theme.
The wallpaper is Woodchip & Magnolia’s Wilderness Lemon Burst, painterly and almost impressionistic. Below it, dusty-pink cement tile runs across the floor and through the shower in a calm, regular grid. One pattern is free and one is disciplined, and neither tries to copy the other.
A room that holds onto spring all year.
Instead of an off-the-shelf top, the vanity has a green-veined marble sourced from Turkey, with the veining running over the edge and down into a deep integrated basin. Sage-green ceramic knobs on the wood base pick up the same color.
A six-foot mirror pulls the eye up and catches the daylight from above. Round white sconces with soft shades sit easily against the busy paper.
Traditional brass fittings and a soft-painted ceiling settle the room. It’s pretty, but it’s built with real materials, so it will still feel fresh long after the novelty of yellow wallpaper would have worn off anywhere else.
